SPECapc updates Solid Edge benchmark
WARRENTON, Va., February 28, 2007 – SPEC/GPC’s Application Performance Characterization (SPECapc) project group has released new performance evaluation software for systems running
Solid Edge® V19 from UGS Corp.
SPECapc for Solid Edge V19 was developed in cooperation with UGS to represent typical user operations that are important in evaluating system performance. A major new feature of the benchmark is a test of Solid Edge’s multi-threaded functionality, which provides results that scale with the number of CPUs or processor cores installed in the computer.
“With all modern workstations supporting multiple-core CPUs, this new functionality aligns with SPECapc’s mission to characterize real-world application performance,” says Dan Bennett, SPECapc chair.
“We thank SPECapc and its members for working with us to provide high-quality tools that enable Solid Edge users to evaluate performance within established guidelines,” says Laura Watson, Solid Edge testing manager. “The updates in this benchmark should help our customers identify areas where performance can be impacted positively by new hardware developments.”
Available now
SPECapc for Solid Edge V19 is available for free downloading on the SPEC/GPC web site: www.spec.org/gpc. The SPECapc group also provides free benchmarks for systems running 3ds Max 8, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0, SolidWorks 2005, UGS NX® 3, and Maya 6.5.
